About the Role

Our pipelayers and grademen support sewer, watermain, storm and site-servicing projects typically located within one hour of Orangeville. This role is suited to someone who understands underground construction, works accurately from plans and grades, and can help keep a pipe crew productive.

• Typical hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, subject to project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, watermain and related services.
• Read plans, establish grades and check elevations using pipe lasers, rotating lasers and other survey equipment.
• Measure, cut, align and connect pipe accurately.
• Prepare bedding and support proper placement, haunching and backfilling around installed pipe.
• Coordinate closely with the foreman, equipment operators and labourers.
• Prepare tools, fittings and materials so the crew can work efficiently.
• Identify grade, alignment or installation concerns before they become larger problems.
• Follow safe-work procedures and participate in required training and meetings.

What We Look For

• At least five years of pipelayer or grademan experience in excavation and site servicing.
• Strong knowledge of sewer, watermain and underground construction practices.
• Ability to read plans and work accurately with grades and elevations.
• Experience using pipe lasers and rotating lasers; Trimble GPS experience is a strong asset.
• Practical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to follow direction and complete assigned work without constant supervision.
• Clear communication, dependable attendance and a safety-focused attitude.
• Valid Ontario G licence and reliable transportation.
